Our Tribute to the late Jim Flynn, Our Founder

Jim Flynn Tribute

We lost our beloved founder, Jim Flynn, who passed away at the age of 62, on February 11th, 2019, following a period of deteriorating health.

His passion for professional audio equipment, and helping clients, made him a beacon of light that shined worldwide. His kindness and generosity made him the “go-to” guy when you needed help with a gig.

Jim’s 35+ year career began at Audio Techniques, and then Martin Audio. He than ran the rental department at the Hit Factory, and from there opened Jim Flynn Rentals. He was knowledgeable, reliable and trusted. He helped build a comprehensive consortium that includes Jim Flynn Rentals, a sales arm in Pro-Sound NYC, and repairs via dBm Pro Audio.

Jim was a family man. He adored his wife Jo Ann, and his son, Logan. He could always be counted on for a joke, a smile and a kind word when you needed it most.

Jim fought health health issues for many years with grace, dignity, humor and strength.

We will miss Jim, and will carry on his legacy.

  1. I agree whole-heartedly and his passing is a big loss the NYC pro-audio community and far beyond. He will be sadly missed, and may he rest in peace knowing that his contribution to society was a great one.

  2. Condolences to the family from Lounge Studios NYC. He was a really good man that had a passion and was able to make a good living using it. A life well lived! Iwe have used bith his rental and repair company and got along with him right away when they were located on 37th street.

  3. Jim and I worked together at Martin Audio and remained very friendly to the end. I had not been in close touch with him in the last several years, but we would see each other at trade shows and always find the time to catch up. Jim was full of life, and he brought intelligence and heart to every interaction with me and all who knew him. I was shocked to hear that he had passed, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. My heartfelt condolences to his family.

  4. After 20+ years of business and friendship Jim will be sorely missed by myself and the Redding staff. He has a tireless work ethic and wacky sense of humor like none other. Frequent conversations often lead to laughs, business philosophy and more laughs. Sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
