Systems Model 720 / 722 Dominator II
The Aphex Systems Model
720 / 722 Dominator II is a stereo MultiBand
peak limiter designed to fit a wide range of
applications. Through the use of MultiBand
techniques along with new proprietary circuits, the
audibility of limiting action has been greatly
reduced, especially when compared to conventional
limiters. This means that greater limiting depth is
possible, resulting in higher loudness with
maintained audio quality. At virtually any limiting
depth, the Dominator II is free of "hole punching",
"dullness", and most other effects normally
associated with limiters. As a peak overshoot
protection limiter, the Dominator II is undetectable
in line while it absolutely prevents peak levels
from exceeding a user settable output level. In
addition, the desired limiting effects of greater
audio density and increased "punch are readily
available with the Dominator II.The Model 722, for
broadcast use, has the Pre and De-emphasis
circuitry, while the Model 720 Does not.

CLX Series Compressor/Limiters
The CLX Series
compressor/limiters use an "infinite soft-knee"
characteristic and timing based on compression
ratio. This, combined with a dual release time,
allows program density to increase as the input
signal increases. The result is a peak controller
with very low noise, smooth sound, and excellent
stereo tracking without the usual "constricted"
limiter sound. The CLX-51 and CLX-52 have many ways
to
deal with any
gain structure. The mechanical design is ready for
years of rugged service and we back our quality with
Ashly's exclusive Five Year Worry-Free Warranty. The
CLX series is extremely useful for such diverse
applications as loudspeaker protection, vocal level
control, broadcast limiting, musical instrument
sustain, special effects, and CD to cassette
transfers.

166XL Compressor/Limiter/Gate
Most compressor/gates provide less
than musical compression, coupled with gating that
swallows transients—or closes early, cutting off
decay and reverb tails. The superb engineering in
the 166XL ensures that both its compression and
gating provide versatility and excellent sonic
performance in situations where other
compressor/gates typically produce undesirable
processing artifacts. |

2231 Dual 31-Band Graphic Equalizer
It's amazing. One little button. It
has so much effect. The Type III® Noise Reduction is
an entirely new concept... virtually instantaneous
encode/decode within the circuitry of the box. We
started out to build the finest EQ's possible, boxes
with the heritage and performance to rival our
famous 30 Series EQ's. And to no one's surprise they
came out awfully darn good. (Ask to see the Audio
Precision plots compared to the competition.) But
then, Roger (our chief engineer, a nice guy, as far
as engineers go) got the crazy idea of putting this
new noise reduction stuff in the box. We listened to
it and were amazed. The EQ's sounded great without
it but with it the performance was nothing short of
incredible. Check it out yourself and see. |

Yamaha
REV500
Reverbation unit with DSP3 Engine
Yamaha's design team has worked hard to make REV500
sound great but remain affordable. A large custom
LCD display and dedicated rotary controls for the
four most critical reverb parameters make REV500
extremely easy to use.REV500 features 20-bit AD/DA
oversampling converters and the same DSP as that of
the PROR3 for superb sonic performance. Unlike some
pseudo stereo reverberators, REV500 is a true stereo
reverb processor, with independent left and right
channels. Reverb programs are categorized into group
for selection ease. The 100 preset programs and 100
user programs are divided into four categories:
Hall, Room, Plate and Special.REV500 has snare and
rim shot samples built-in, so programs and edits can
be auditioned directly from the front panel
(AUDITION button). Balanced XLR and phone jack
connections allow simple hookup to professional or
semiprofessional gear. Input and output levels for
each channel are independently switchable between
-10dB and +4dB.A dual level control and two
four-segment LED level meters simplify level setting
for optimal performance.REV500 supports real-time
parameter control via MIDI Control Changes and
program selection via MIDI Program Changes. MIDI
Bulk Dump is used for user program backup. An
optional footswitch can be used to mute the reverb
effect or select reverb programs. Selection order is
determined by the MIDI Program Change Map. |

Yamaha
Q2031B Graphic Equalizer
Yamaha graphic equalizers incorporate active filters
to provide minimum phase shift and smooth response
at any boost or cut setting. The Q2031B offers 31
equalization bands at 1/3 octave intervals from 20Hz
to 20kHz.Switchable EQ gain of +/- 6dB or +/-12dB
provides with a broad range, or a narrow, more
precise scope of control. The +/-12dB range offers
wide-range control, essential for broad range tonal
variation or feedback control. The +/-6dB range
provides fine control within a narrower range, well
suited for acoustic tuning and subtle response
shaping. With synthesizers, signal processors, and
other equipment offering stereo output as the rule,
the Q2031B provides 2-channel versatility in single
unit designs. The 2U-size Q2031B offers completely
independent 2-channel control from input to output
with separate 31 band equalization and variable high
pass filters for each channel. A graphic equalizer's
main function is to shape sound, without adding
unwanted distortion or noise. The Q2031B provides
quiet operation with less than 0.05% total harmonic
distortion; noise is kept to a minimum with levels
better than -96dB. Yamaha equalizers supply smooth,
natural sound that is even compatible with digital
sources. High pass filters are extremely useful in
fighting against low-end boominess, AC hum, wind
noise and preventing subsonic components from
muddying the sound as well as wasting amplifier
power. The Q2031B incorporates continuously variable
high pass filters on both equalization channels.
Providing 12dB of octave rolloff below the desired
frequency, the filters can be independently adjusted
with sliders, to any frequency between 20Hz to
200Hz.Signal input and output is provided by both
balanced 1/4" phone jacks and balanced XLR jacks,
all rated at +4dB. This gives an In/Out interface
that can be easily connected to other types of
equipment. Independent peak indicators, to warn of
excessively high signal levels, light when the
output signal reaches 3dB below clipping. An
automatic muting circuit mutes the equalizer's
output for approximately 3 seconds after the power
is switched on, to prevent transients from damaging
amplifiers and speaker systems. EQ ON/OFF switches
provide easy EQ bypass and instant comparison
between equalized and unequalized sound. LED
indicators let you know when the EQ is on. All
Yamaha graphic equalizers are built with rugged
construction making them dependable for home or
studio use, as well as on the road. The Q2031B can
be mounted in any standard 19 inch rack. Use graphic
qualization to fine tune any sound system to match
the acoustics of a studio, concert hall, or any
other sound environment. It can also be utilized to
compensate for serious acoustic irregularities found
in rooms that were not designed for music listening
and keep properly designed studios or halls at their
optimum sound level. In situations where
restrictions make a feedback proof setup impossible,
Yamaha graphic equalizers can be used to reduce the
gain of problem frequencies, thus minimizing the
possibility of sudden outburst of feedback that can
ruin a performance. Yamaha graphic equalizers are
also creative tools that can shape the tone of the
instrument or voice to achieve a better blend in the
mix. When added to reverb, EQ can electronically
simulate a wide range of acoustic environments.
Graphic equalization can effectively minimize tape
hiss, stage rumble, wind noise, microphone popping,
excessive sibilance and other sources of unwanted
noise. |
